A short chapter

With Veolia undertaking a phased withdrawal of its local bus services in South Wales, Edwards Coaches began competitive Services 100E (Pontypridd-Church Village-Llantwit Fardre-Beddau-Talbot Green) and 400E (Cardiff-Treforest Industrial Estate-Church Village-Llantwit Fardre-Beddau-Gwaun Miskin) in April 2010.

First Cymru decided that they would also like a slice of the action, and after Veolia pulled out completely in June 2011, the company began its own Service 400 with four Mini Pointer-bodied Darts (43850-3) transferred to its Cardiff depot from First Devon & Cornwall, though having been new to Truronian.

Within a year, First Cymru had pulled out, leaving Edwards to be the indirect successor to Bebb.

My shot from June 2011 shows 43853 approaching the Gwaun Miskin terminus.

The four MPDs were leased and were returned to their leasing company in August 2017, then passing on to a Glasgow area operator.
