Stop Gap
After Crossgates Coaches relinquished the Powys County Council contract for Service X63 (Swansea-Neath-Crynant-Ystradgynlais-Sennybridge-Brecon) at the end of August 2012, First Cymru stood in for four months, operating from Pontardawe depot. The initial allocation were Irizar Century-bodied Scania K114IB4s, and whilst they were powerful machines, their steep steps were far from ideal on local bus work.
A trio of Wight Eclipse Urbans-bodied Volvo B7RLEs (66958/60/1) were transferred from First Somerset & Avon to First Cymru in October 2012 and these then became the regular allocations. In those days, the Abercraf to Brecon section was only two hourly and the peak vehicle requirement was therefore three.
66961 represents the three as she is captured picking up for Brecon (or Aberhonddu) at Ystradgynlais Cross in October 2012, in the days before the Interchange had been built and 'on street' stops had to be used.
