Skipping a Generation ?
With Stagecoach experimenting with a new all-over navy blue corporate livery in place of the uninspiring Local scheme introduced in 2020, there are still a handful of vehicles in the Stagecoach in South Wales fleet that retain the previous 'Beachball' colours, though these are in single figures. Will these be the first to receive the new scheme if adopted, I wonder ?
One that stands out is Porth-based Mercedes Sprinter 44025, which arrived in January 2023 from the North Scotland fleet's Kirkwall depot on Orkney, but had been new to East Kent.
This shot from June 2024 shows her on Pontypridd Road in Porth. She is heading for Ferndale on Service 155, which diverts off the main road at various points and has its roots in the "Skyliner" service operated by National Welsh using ECW-bodied Bristol LHSs in the early 1980s.
