Rhondda Scanias

Stagecoach in South Wales received 32 Alexander Dennis Enviro300-bodied Scania K20UBs in three batches - 28636-42 in 2012, 28709-12 in 2014 and 28721-41 in 2015.

The 12-plates were mostly allocated to Aberdare depot for Service 172, the 14-plates were all allocated to Cwmbran depot for Service X3 and the 15-plates were at Brynmawr and Cwmbran depots for Services X3 and X4.

However, in recent years, a number have been held in Reserve and a small number allocated to Porth depot. All bar two now carry the Stagecoach Local livery.

This December 2023 shot taken in Tonypandy Bus Centre illustrates three examples - Aberdare-allocated 28711 operating Service 172 to Bridgend, Porth-based 28732 operating Service 130 to Blaenrhondda and Aberdare's 28736 just disappearing on the 172 to Aberdare and Merthyr Tydfil.

The Aberdare to Merthyr Tydfil extension of Service 172 was introduced in 2023 to replace Service 6, and must be the first major modification to the route in its history.
