Disappearing Independents - 3
Bluebird Coaches of Neath is another smaller South Wales operator who has sadly ceased trading.
The company was originally based in Briton Ferry but subsequently re-located its base to the former Glantawe Coaches depot in Cilmaengwyn in the Swansea Valley. Approximately 10 coaches of various makes, including Volvos, Scanias, Bovas and Temsas were operated in latter years.
The fleet - including a former SWT Willowbrook 001-bodied Ford R1014 - once wore an attractive blue and yellow livery. However, this gave way in most cases to the white. blue and red contract colours of Majestic Holidays of Teignmouth, with whom the company worked closely.
The Majestic scheme is illustrated on Y715 HWT, a former Wallace Arnold Jonckheere Mistral-bodied Volvo B10M, which is captured on the A470, just north of Storey Arms, in July 2013. A Stagecoach Optare Tempo can be seen in the distance, heading for Brecon.
