Three Plus Two

Three Alexander PS-bodied Volvo B10Ms in the Stagecoach in South Wales fleet - 20362, 20365 and 20366 - were modified in 2006 as high capacity school buses, replacing Leyland Titans at Cwmbran depot. This entailed fitting 63 seats with belts in 'three plus two' configuration.

They remained at Cwmbran as low mileage school and college contract vehicles until sale to Ensignbus in January of this year, outliving their counterparts from the 1995 batches. However, they did occasionally venture on to local bus services as the need arose and were regular performers on Tuesdays only Service X20 (Newport-Cwmbran-Pontypool-Abergavenny).

As an illustration, this April 2013 shot taken in Monmouth Road, Abergavenny shows 20362 arriving from a college contract to operate the 1630 X20 journey to Newport for the market day stragglers.

She remains in use with Redline Travel of Penwortham, Lancashire, re-registered 800 RED.

Wonderful Machines.
