Beacons Dart
The Beacons Bus Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday network was severely pruned in 2014 as a result of reduced Local Authority and National Park budgets, with only the Cardiff Bus-operated Cardiff to Brecon and Brecon to Abergavenny 'Bike Bus' services surviving.
Prior to this, and after a gap of several years, First Cymru became a contractor for the 2012 and 2013 seasons, and covered two vehicle workings. These required a short Plaxton Pointer-bodied Dennis Dart and a coach, which was usually an Irizar PB-bodied Scania.
The Dart was employed on Service B6 (Swansea-Neath-Ystradgynlais-Sennybridge-Brecon), and covered two round trips on Service B16 between Brecon and the Brecon Mountain Railway at Pant, north of Merthyr Tydfil.
Swansea Ravenhill-based 42600 was a regular performer, and she is captured at speed on the A470 between Storey Arms and the Beacons Reservoir when undertaking a late afternoon round trip on the B16 in September 2013.
