The Pas to Lynn Lake Mixed

Lynn Lake is in northern Manatoba. The Pas is on the Canadian National in west central Manatoba.

eminence_grise of the Train Orders Canadian Railroads Discussion Group made the following quite interesting comments on the first photo:

"The consist is interesting, as it includes TOFC and several passenger truck equipped and painted box cars, plus a full baggage car.

"Lynn Lake was a mining community at that time, without a highway connection. The highway trailer could be a refrigerated trailer with groceries, and the various boxcars plus the baggage car could be hauling non perishable supplies.

"CN Express and Transport probably had a small terminal at Lynn Lake with a ramp track for the TOFC and a couple of cube vans to unload the baggage and box cars.

"The reason for two coaches? As someone who rode a couple of mixed trains in northern Ontario, I can say one was for the sober passengers. Enough said."

Wikipedia says, "Lynn Lake was founded in 1950, when a deposit of nickel ore was discovered. ... There is a functional rail line between Lynn Lake and The Pas. The rail line is owned by Keewatin Railway and is inactive between Pukatawagan and Lynn Lake." Pukatawagan is between The Pas and Lynn Lake.
