Depth
Rule of composition:
- This photo decently follows the rule of Depth and its technique. Depth simply means having dimensions in a photo which include a Foreground, a Background, and a Middleground. Depth can be done by changing the aperture value on a camera to create greater or shallow depth of field which is done in this photo to have a blurry foreground and background yet keeping our subject (car) in the middleground sharp and clear.
Why its a good photo:
- As mentioned above this photo follows the Depth technique really accurately.
- The Aperture value learnt in photography classes has been applied to this photo to create a shallow depth of field in the front and back of the photo to keep the middle car clear and sharp and in focus.
- To give a different feeling to the photo that might attract viewers instead of the depth of field might be the fact that only green colours are kept in the photo and everything else is black and white.
How it could be improved:
- The colours of the trees are slightly too green and if their saturation would be altered the photo would have looked a bit more appealing. If the photographer would also match the white balance of the photo to where it was taken either in sunlight or under a fluorescent light, it would have helped make the colours in the photo look accurate.
