Semaphore survivor

There are still pockets of semaphore signalling that survive in south Wales including here at Park Junction, Newport. The large signalbox, just visible behind the vegetation on the left, dates back to 1885 and has a 100 lever frame and survives despite being originally scheduled for closure in 2017.

Class 150 Sprinter unit no.150227 prepares to take the Ebbw Vale line with 2N09 09:34 Cardiff Central to Ebbw Vale Town service on the 23rd May 2018.
