Please read my short story of hope and survival against all odds
Every year I start sunflowers in my garden. They are my favourite flowers and give me lots of joy (and Flickr pictures) in the summer and fall.
This spring they all sprouted quickly and started to grow healthy and strong,
One morning, I noticed that one of my flowers was drooping. The stem looked damaged by an unknown source. With extra water and some support, I nursed it back to health.
However, during the night we had a severe storm that broke my sunflower completely off its roots. I was sad that my efforts to save it had failed. By some inexplicable impulse, I took the rootless stem with the wilted leaves and stuck it into the wet ground.
For two weeks I gave it extra attention and care. But the leaves looked wilted and threatened to dry up. The stem was bent and curved. It seemed hopeless.
But then one cool morning, on my inspection round my heart started to leap. I could not believe my eyes. Miraculously my little, almost dead sunflower had been restored to life. The stem had straightened and the leaves were vibrantly green. My broken flower had taken new roots again. Now it is making up for the lost time and will soon be blooming.
This experience taught me a lesson of hope and survival against all odds.
I’ll post a portrait of the survivor in the next little while.
Thank you for reading my story of hope!
