The Maybrook Shuffle
Yeah, yeah, yeah, do the Maybrook Shuffle.......Two NYS&W SD45's are long hood forward for the time being. They were the lead units upon arriving at Maybrook, NY from the west, then they were cut off and set over onto the ex L&HHRR tracks. The other two units drag the train north through the old Maybrook Terminal until the rear passes. These two then grab the rear, (soon to be front), and pull it down the L&HHRR so the original pull units can clear onto the track the train arrived on. Now the train gets shoved back through the yard until they clear the junction, again! The third and fourth units will get onto the "front" of these two and become units 1 and 2 and these 3 and 4. The whole shebang then rolls back through where this photo was taken,(NYS RT 208), and heads south/east. Confused??? This all ended when the new "Hudson Juntion" was created two miles south and NYS&W's stack trains only had to hang a right off the old Erie and onto the L&HRR. February, 1987
