FAIRY RING

California coastal redwoods (Sequoia sempervirens) are among the longest living (1,200 to 1,800) years and the tallest, living trees (up to 379 feet).

When a “mother tree” dies, the underground roots spread out and sprout new trees after the tree’s death, growing to be as tall as the mother tree and they become a “fairy ring”

This ring is at the Armstrong Redwood Park, North of Guerneville, Sonoma County CA
