No Fly Zone

I guess if you fly into a remote location billed as a "wilderness experience", you should be prepared for the unexpected. We were not at all prepared.

When the weather closed in, our "day trip" became an overnight stay in a hiker's hut bunked down in a room with 10 other people (aka strangers) in the clothes we had worn in. Needless to say: no heating, no electricity, no phone reception... We did get a bread roll with a slice of ham for dinner.

Most of us were resigned to our situation, especially as we were acutely aware of the tragedy at Mt Disappointment earlier in the week where five people had been killed in a helicopter flying in low cloud.

But we all wondered if we might be stuck here for more than one night, maybe two, maybe more? No breakfast, no more bread rolls... ... . . . ???

Thankfully the weather cleared overnight and we were able to fly out first thing the next morning.
