Bristly dandelion
Whilst the ubiquitous "fluffy dandelion" does occur in Australia, this one is an Australian native. The seedhead of Microseris lanceolata, or Yam daisy, initially starts out a little but fluffy, but nowhere near as dense as the traditional dandelion and then quickly dries out to become somewhat prickly, perhaps more typical of an arid climate. This one is photographed in the wild, with typical "bacon and eggs wildflowers" (Pultenaea procumbens) in the background.
