Mapping project

STATEMENT

Colour, Texture and Pattern are the main components of textiles to me, I want to be able to be inventive with them, combining them in ways that are my own, building upon my own signature style. My interest in Textiles developed greatly since the New Designers Exhibition 2013, seeing meticulously detailed lengths of print, vivid and textural lengths of weaving, and enthusiastic students, I felt Textile Design was the right path for me. The parts that interest me the most are not ultimately about fashion but the core of Textiles. Elements of my Graphic Design skills can be incorporated into the print area of practice with my keen eye for shape and colour. I consider Textile Design to be the perfect fusion of subjects I feel my talents and ambitions lie in. Coming to an open day at Central Saint Martins gave me an insight into a creative community that I want to completely immerse myself in, challenging and inspiring me on a daily basis. The Facilities that are available would also enable me to experiment and explore my talents more. The demanding nature of the course excites me, I want to make the most of my education, gaining the help of professionals whilst it is available to me. Combined with my ambition and devotion I know a degree from Central Saint Martins would provide me with endless opportunity, directing me onto the right path for the future.

'Mapping the Site'

Looking at my daily route around college, using colour to represent the areas which provide me with inspiration. This brief made me acknowledge small details that I would usually overlook on a daily basis.
