Sille is a village near the city of Konya, Turkey. It is an antique city which was established about 6000 years ago. The name "Sille" comes from Silen (Silene) of Greek mithology, or "Silenos." The village is located on the antique Silk Road.
Karataş Mosque
The mosque is named after Karataş, which was once a crowded Muslim quarter. This mosque, which is now closed as there are no people living around it, is the last witness of the existence of a crowded Muslim community that once filled it. Although the date of construction is not known, the date of 1878 (1295 in Islamic calendar), which is located behind the preaching chair, leads to the earlier dating of this structure.
