[1013V2] Uçhisar, Cappadocia, Turkey

Uçhisar is a town of Turkey, located in the province of Nevsehir. This village is typical of Cappadocia. It is famous thanks to Kale (Castle), rock visible several kilometers and the highest point of Cappadocia (1300 m). This volcanic peak was dug shelter from the Hittite period (1500 BC.). The mountain has then ceased to serve as a refuge for others, the early Christians persecuted by the Romans. Labyrinthine fortress houses a set of chapels, monasteries, apartments, dining halls, warehouses or common rooms connected by a network of galleries that unfold over twenty floors. Some cave dwellings are still occupied.
