After spending 24 hours in an apartment in the Barbican (Andrewes House) I noticed how important the gardens were to soften the hard and brutal architecture of the Barbican. To represent this opposition between the hard architecture and the soft gardens, I used string and card. All garden elements are made of white string and the architecture is made of card. The model represents half of the studio apartment and all the garden, the lower level is the parking. I chose to contruct the model in cross section to show the thickness of the concrete slabs.
