side or back pattern for dress

I have produce a basic pattern. I created an icon by hand scanned it in. I cleaned the image in illustrator, I used the rectangular marquee to select an the area which I wanted to use in my design by depending on the pattern which I want on dress. Copy tool to copy the section to re colour then paste on the other layer, change the colour by using paint bucket tool. I then use photoshop and add that selection in the define pattern. I changed the background colour with the paint bucket tool. I open new fie paste that icon in it. and copy same tool and resize by using transformation and resize tool to resize the icon. then I copy again that and resize it and flip it horizontal way and so on, to create motif for the centre back of gown.
