Merlin this morning
I went over to Commonwealth Lake this morning; it was quite foggy when I arrived, so the light was not good. I walked around the lake a few times and saw the usual suspects: common mergansers, pied billed grebes, shovelers, wigeons, crows, red-winged blackbirds. I was over in the side area checking for snipes or rails, when a bird watcher, Peyton, asked if I had a camera (it was in the holster bag at my side, and not out). When I confirmed this, he pointed out a merlin up in a tree I had recently passed under - looking into the brush underneath, not up into the branches. So glad he did, as it's a first sighting for me.
