The aircraft was sold to Icelandair in 2002 and registered TF-FIR and leased to Aeromar Líneas Aéreas Dominicanas . By December 2003 Aeromar had suspended operations and the aircraft was returned to Icelandair. On its return to Icelandair the aircraft was named Askja. Icelandair's aircraft are named after Icelandic volcanoes. The aircraft was painted into a special livery to celebrate 80 years of Icelandic aviation in May 2017 and re-named Vatnajökull. Now just shy of 26 years old, the aircraft continues in service across the Atlantic.
