Expo Milano 2015 - Sultanate of Oman Pavilion

Rho Fiera Expo Milano 2015

Theme: Heritage in Harvest

A tour throughout the structure of approximately 30,000 ft² designed by architect David Knafo, allows the visitor to discover how the Arab Country, located in a barren and inaccessible land, has managed to develop agriculture. The secret lies in the ability to use effectively the scarce water resources, thanks to the creation of the “Aflaj”, an ancient irrigation system able to exploit the Earth’s gravity for water distribution.

The pavilion is split into two distinctive areas: the western part, a fortress is recreated where inside the visitor can watch a multimedia show based on visual representations of the characteristic landscapes of Oman. The tour inside Oman’s pavilion continues for the visitor through a walkway of 16,000 ft² leading directly in the eastern area of the building, where a majestic and elegant castle stands tall, built in the traditional local architecture with lancet windows and inlaid grilles, providing the visitor with an evocative atmosphere of Arabian Nights.
