I know this instrument has seen better days. Lots and lots of salt water demanded its tol. Years on end this instrument helped us to identify ships, find buoys, spot marks to plot our route, explore port entrances, and so on. Nowadays with electronic maps, gps, ais, etc. the life of binoculars at sea is much easier.
