The miller preparing his mill for work......(in explore)

The Sint Victor is a round stone mill in Heeze in the Dutch province of North Brabant. It is a belt mill that today serves as a flour mill.

 

The mill was built in 1852 for J.F. Pompen. The Pompen family owned the seigneury of Sterksel and the mill can be seen as an investment property. It served as a bark mill, oil mill and flour mill. The oil mill was demolished in 1887 and was still in service in De Roosdonck in Nuenen. In 1920 the bark mill was also demolished. In 1862 and 1904 there was a fire in the mill, but the mill was restored soon after.

 

Soon after 1946 the wind operation came to an end. In 1983-1984 the mill was restored and in 2005 it regained its striking black and white painting, which had disappeared in 1983.

 

The mill has a wind vane with the year 1841, which comes from a defunct post mill in Nederweert.

 

The belt on which the mill is located is almost 7 meters high, which is an exceptional height.
