IMG_1342 Dafydd from Angelesy

Close to home there is an annual plough match which I will, weather permitting, attend to photograph. It is normally on the second Sunday of the month of September. I was a lovely autumn sunny day.

There was around 30 competitors who were ploughing or taking a break and chatting in groups.

As I moved around the field I spotted Dafydd sat just as he is captured. I hoped he would still be sat as I moved through the field capturing other competitors.

When I reached Dafydd he was still sat as I have captured him. He was happy with his image being taken. He is aged 78 and from Angelesy in Wales where is still works as a farmer. He had left home with his tractor at 5 am to travel the 100 miles to Rainford. He was competing in the classic section.

He chatted for ages about what the judges are looking for. He was taking a break. The competitors plough a measured section which is I think 8 runs. and then need to wait for the person in the next plot to finish. They then need to plough the plot between them and the next plot and should finish where their neighbour started. Quite a precise measure and not easy. If anyone reads this who has knowledge - I am not an expert.

He is one I took of him at work.
