This image shows a custom door slide mechanism that was commissioned by the Operations Manager of SSE Audio (where I am currently employed).
I was asked to design a range of cases that incorporated a door that slides back on itself.
The problem with existing solutions was that the sliding door did not fit the internal area of the door, leaving gaps either side which would let in rain. The other issue was cost.
After a lot of preliminary drawings I developed a removable door slide fixing in which the hinging point is moved over to the right to allow the door to close and fit the entire internal of the case. It is also designed so that it could be manufactured by our company, thus reducing cost from outsourcing.
