Southwest Illinois Lobby Day 2016

by stlregchamber

The St. Louis Regional Chamber held its annual Southwest Illinois Lobby Day in Springfield on March 9th to discuss policy priorities with Governor Rauner and the membership of the General Assembly. The Regional Chamber joined with five partner organizations and local chambers of commerce to bring a delegation of 25 business leaders to the Capitol. Together, the Regional Chamber’s investors and members account for nearly a quarter of all employment in the St. Louis metropolitan area.
In addition to meetings with Governor Rauner, Senate President John Cullerton, and Senate Minority Leader Radogno, the delegation met with legislators and officials from the St. Louis region and across the state to advocate for policies that will make the St. Louis region a better place to live, work and invest.
The delegation gave legislators details of the Chamber’s recently-announced Agenda for Regional Prosperity, a people-first, innovation driven public policy agenda designed to drive equitable, abundant job creation and economic growth in St. Louis and across Missouri. The Agenda will focus on three broad strategic positions - Equity & Opportunity, Safety & Security and Build & Invest.
Particular focus issues for 2016 include ending the budget stalemate, reforming the workers’ compensation system, investing in transit and transportation, and supporting Scott Air Force Base growth through a grant.
