Time

Time was running out for what was left in Atlantic Canada for CP Rail by the 90s. The network of branch lines operating out of McAdam had greatly been reduced by spring flooding in 1987. Here RS-23 # 8026, 8036 have just departed Florenceville, New Brunswick on Dec. 6, 1991. They are at Mile 74 Shogomoc Subdivision and will travel south along the Saint John River to Newburg where they will run around there train and enter the Gibson Subdivision to continue the trip to Fredericton. Not far south of Newburg the bridge over the Saint John River was damaged and never repaired thus spelling the end of service between there and McAdam. The train passing the school kids on morning recess contains loaded reefers of french fries from McCain, empty vegetable oil tanks , gondolas of new untreated ties and a van. The van and 4 man crew this late in time was great to see.
