On The Line
One f the goals of building The National Transcontinental Railway was to have it entirely within Canada. In this stretch of track the Pelletier Sub. is within feet of keeping on Canadian soil. The International Border is along the road with a marker out of sight to the left of the Railway bridge. Canadian Customs is opposite the underpass on the fill for anyone coming out of the woods of Maine. The Irving sawmill and slash burner form the backdrop behind CN Train 306 with SD-75 I # 5681, GP-40-2 # 9539, 9544 Escourt, Quebec Oct. 2000. The train is almost at the bottom of the hill and the valley along Lake Pohenegamook.
