Track side view of the former Hawker Railway Station with the Flinders Ranges in the background, South Australia

The railway station was built during 1880 after the line from Port Augusta was completed.

In the early days, teams of horses, bullocks, camels and donkeys could be seen loading and unloading goods.

Troop trains passed through during 1942–45. Local women and children met the trains and cheered on the soldiers.

The line between Quorn and Hawker continued to be used until the 1960s.

The station is now the Old Ghan Restaurant and Gallery.
