This one's for Rex
I've recently heard that a friend and fellow railway enthusiast has unfortunately passed and ascended to 'trainspotter' heaven. Rex and I go back a long way and in the early days while still working as a local BR signalman, he would accompany me and other fellow enthusiasts all over the country in pursuit of our love of all things 'trains'. In recent years I was able to meet up with him again and often would share a day of photography, good banter and perhaps a 'toastie & coffee at the cafe on platform 3. Rex became a very well known and respected member of Lincoln Station local enthusiasts and was widely known as quite a character by all who knew him, including the many members of station staff there.
He will be sorely missed bless him but never forgotten, RIP Rex.
Freightliner's 66538 passes through Lincoln Station with 4L85 Tinsley International Terminal - Felixstowe North Intermodal, seen with Rex looking on having got his 'snap' on its approach 28th June 2022.
