Female Wild Turkey
This Female Wild Turkey and her little youngster moved into the backyard 7 weeks ago today and have proceeded to provide us with unlimited entertainment. While they do leave for short periods of time daily, they always return and spend most of the day preening, eating, pooping and playing. Who knew that turkeys play – well I am here to tell you that they do!! At least once a day Mom and Junior chase each other around the backyard, chest bump each other repeatedly and then jump up into the air and flap their wings at each other. It is quite a sight and absolutely hilarious. Usually after one of these episodes, Junior then runs over to the patio and plops down right in front of the patio door in her favorite spot and starts to fall asleep for one of her many naps. Just too funny :)
Larry and I know that this little family will not stay for much longer and will probably go on to join a large turkey group for the winter so we are going to continue to enjoy them as long as they are here. This posted photo shows Mom in one of her favorite places to sun herself – right in the middle of one of the back gardens :)
Happy Friday to my Flickr Friends – I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
