A2 Photography Final

Final Photoshop image for my A2 Photography exam.

Throughout my Photography and Art A2 I produced two extensive personal investigations as well as extension projects to support and two exams.

My photography personal investigation focused on the topic of ‘The Female Form’ and I chose ‘The Depiction of Fashion within Art and Photography’ to study for my Art project. I feel that both subject areas are topics that cause controversy throughout society and therefore I wanted to explore the ways in which they are presented through the media, particularly in Art and Photography.

During my Art course I was influenced by a diverse range of artists and photographers from William Hogarth, Jack Vettriano, David Hockney, Fragonard and Yinka Shonibare to photographers such as Rankin, Bailey, Nick Knight, David Lachapelle, James Wedge and Sarah Moon. I conducted thorough contextual research to inform my ideas development. I also thoroughly enjoyed visiting a variety of exhibitions to support my thinking. Both these elements of my research encouraged me to explore and experiment with a wide range of media.

For my photography project 'The Female Form' I had a similar approach, again, I collected primary research from galleries and exhibitions, which helped inspire my initial ideas. The main inspirations were artists Jenny Saville and Omar Ortiz, also photographers including Helmut Newton, Edward Weston, Julia Margaret Cameron, Jeurgen Teller, John Swannell, Bill Brandt and Eve Arnold.

Using my personal investigations I tried to interlink techniques and bring in unique elements creating a symbiotic theme. These are themes that I wish to continue to a higher level.
