BL34 & G541 - Long Island Steel Train

GREEN LIGHT???

Wait, what??? During my holidays, I'd gone down to photograph the steel train 8 or 10 times. Each time I'd wait at Patterson station for the train to appear, then when it passed, I move up the line towards Highett as the steelie would be held at Moorabbin. The hold would vary from around 10 minutes to up around an hour before they got a path out. Today I decided to go into the station as I wanted to get some shots from platform 2 then go around to 3 for some close ups. When I got down onto the platform, one of the Metro guys was wandering around down on the tracks. We were having a chat and I was telling him about some of the long waits I'd had just up the line during the holidays and how I was doing it differently today. He laughed and said given the problems they currently had down at Frankston, they'd probably hold the steelie at Moorabbin all afternoon. Good news until they rolled under South Road 10 minutes later. I thought they had a bit too much momentum up and couldn't believe it when I turned and saw the green stick. There's no winning some days....
