Konik Ponies
Koniks originate from Poland. A herd of geldings can be seen wandering on the Hickling Broad National Nature Reserve in Norfolk It is hoped that this will help maintain the natural environment of the broad. If the water level rises to a very high level during winter months the horses are moved to higher ground. They are self-reliant and wetland specialists that are proving to be a great boost for the ecology of the area. They love to graze on weeds, reeds and grass, thus helping to stimulate wildlife diversity in their fenland habitat.
