by Vasily Baburov

Chernyshev manor is the 18th century architectural ensemble, created in 1760s – 1790s. It is sitting in the Yaropolets village, located 18 kilometers from the town of Volokolamsk and 140 km from Moscow. It was the country estate of Chernyshev family, to which belonged Zakharii Chernyshev, famous military leader and prominent courtier during the reigns of Elizabeth and Catherine the Great. The manor house was built in 1760s in Baroque style and had regular park behind it. Church of the Theotokos of Kazan was built in 1780s – 1790s under supervision of the architect Karl Blank, though the likely designers could be Vasily Bazhenov or Matvey Kazakov. Current state of the buildings and park totally neglected is worrying
