Railways in Ukraine - the 'Last Breath of Steam' tour 2008

I participated in the Last Breath of Steam tour as it seemed to be my only chance of seeing steam in action in Ukraine. The tour was challenging with 120+ participants making photography at run-pasts difficult and the weather was not good - mostly dull and, during the second half of the trip, the snow melted and the ground turned to mud. Maximising the number of passengers meant a lot of sleeping cars and no dedicated shower car.

The trip started and finished in Kiev but the steam worked from Lviv to Rakhov and back. There was time for a visit to Lviv West MPD at the start of the trip.
