Post-man
In the 1800s, British postmen used to have bright red uniforms. They wore red in honour of the crown as red is considered both a Royal colour and an important colour on our English flag ( this may be one of the reasons why British post boxes were eventually standardised to be red). The postmen in their red-breasted coats resembled our now national bird and much-loved British robin red-breast. Victorian postmen were nicknamed "Robins".
