Trans Pennine 1987
A Liverpool Lime Street to Newcastle service passes Copmanthorpe, south of York in August 1987 headed by class 47/4 no. 47421 'The Brontes of Haworth'. Although some electrification masts are in place, it will be some time before they are wired. One of the original batch of Brush type 4's, the loco entered traffic as D1520 on 5 June 1963. It was withdrawn on 27 September 1991 and cut up at Crewe in March 1997.
