"1995 ERF EC14.50TD4 8x4 200t 5th wheel artic' tractor unit
Chassis No. 79435
Engine No. 23235530
This is one of only three 8x4 200 tonne tractor units ever built by ERF and is the only one left in Europe, the other two having been shipped over to Africa in recent years following use in heavy plant haulage from Scotland to ports in England. DIG 5258 was originally acquired by the Electricity Supply Board from ERF along with a Nicholls 10 axle trailer for transporting heavy transformers throughout Ireland. The next owner was Aylward Heavy Haulage who purchased the outfit at auction in order to get the trailer, they then sold the tractor unit on to the vendors business. Just 100,000 kilometres have been covered in total with just around 15,000kms by the current owner moving heavy earthmoving equipment around Ireland until the recession of 2007, many of the tyres are stated to be original fitment. The straight six 500HP Cummins big cam engine is equipped with a torque clutch, ZF 16 speed gearbox driving through SISU rear axles rated at 32 tonnes on SISU suspension. For collectors of ERFs this is an absolutely one off opportunity to own one of just 3 units 2 of which may no longer exist. Described as very good all round with just the paint work requiring a refresh the ERF is offered for sale with current V5C documentation."
Estimate - £13,000 to £16,000. Sold for £14,250.
