Roan Mountain Moody Appalachian Spring

~Summer Mood~

Each visit to the Roan Mountain Highlands offers something different.

On this day, however, the balds were engulfed with heavy enduring fog.

While fog can be a precursor to some epic landscape light, I felt less and less optimistic given my limited timeframe for this trip.

As we headed back down the Appalachian Trail, this cluster of Catawba Rhododendron spoke to my senses.

Just as we made our way across the bald, the fog began to lift a little, revealing a tad more of the landscape beyond its grasp.

I got a few shots in before the fog swallowed the scene once more.

While I've only explored a limited part of this area a handful of times, the beauty of this region keeps echoing my return and I already cannot wait to go back.

I hope this image finds you doing well and staying safe, and thank you for stopping by to view my gallery.
