Blue Ridge Mountains NC Scenic Autumn Sunset
~Blue Ridge Magic~
A resplendent October sunset revealed itself behind a thick cloud of evening fog while chasing fall colors in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
After having driven to and fro along the southern end of the Blue Ridge Parkway all afternoon with my two German Shepherds, we ended up parking along the road near Caney Fork Overlook.
Totally engulfed with fog, I debated whether or not to stick around as the sun had not been able to pierce through this cloud cover all afternoon.
However, after having already spent so much time driving around with not much to show for, I felt it would be a complete waste of opportunity to simply pack up and leave.
This was a decision I did not come to regret... As the evening approached us, I began to see some definition in the mountains through the fog. I jumped out and set up my camera at various spots trying to find a composition I liked.
I had never photographed from this particular area before, and with a lot of fog it was hard to nail down points of interests.
As the fog continued to ease and roll in and out of the valley, the light began to reveal hints of color in the sky.
I can only describe it as magic when you witness the golden light of the setting sun hit the rolling fog; it's like watching illuminated angels dance amidst God's glory and creation.
As I turned back to my car, I saw both of my dogs with their heads out the windows watching the scene in awe as well.
These magic Blue Ridge moments can truly touch us all.
I hope you like this image and that it speaks a sense of magic to you as well.
Thank you for stopping by to view my photos and I hope that you all will have a wonderful first week of February!
