Water Column

Farina, South Australia, was a bustling town of around 600 people in the late 1880's. About 100 years later, in the 1980's, the population had very much decreased, but there was still a large railway presence with both narrow gauge and standard gauge passing through from Port Augusta in the south, to Marree and beyond in the north. Whilst the tracks are long gone (last train was in 1987) there are still reminders around, such as sleepers, platforms, a large water tower, a rail bridge, and this water column.

There has also been preservation work with a few old carriages restored and placed where they would have been loaded/unloaded.
