New Recruit
'Copper' is a 3-month old Dutch Shepherd and a new recruit for the Australian Federal Police, currently assigned to Adelaide Airport, South Australia. Her current handler will expose her to new places, surfaces, noises, smells and people over the next 6 to 9 months. Anywhere from 12 months on, she will go to Canberra to be assessed as to whether she becomes a General Purpose dog or a Detection dog. Both courses go for 3 to 4 months initially, but there is constant training whilst operational.
