Sometimes the Poor Are Easy to Overlook
Here in Bucharest, you can easily walk past dozens of poor beggars every day, people with real needs and very little assistance. At first, it's startling, but after a while, you get used to it and it's easy to ignore. They just start to blend in with the surrounding city. I think it's the same in every city. After a while, you're no longer shocked by the ugly parts of your city, be it poverty, violence, drugs, prostitution, crime, racism, injustice... What do we do, then?
