Gypsy: Warmth
We've developed some pretty good friendships with a handful of Gypsy (Roma) families near us in Bucharest, Romania. Though they're poor and marginalized, they've got some of the biggest hearts of anyone I've ever met. I love these guys. Here's how this particular family heats their home, cooks their meals, and dries their clothes, on an old-fashioned wood stove (soba). It's primitive, but it's cheap and effective.
