JONBOB II

Another picture of the a) SEE W. SEE as the, e) JONBOB II taken in 1950 on the Pamlico Sound in North Carolina as the lead boat for the Great Bridge Cruise Club. This picture is after a major rebuild that changed her from a Bridge Deck cruiser style to a Cruising Houseboat style. (Reference the PEQUEST on this site) Transformation is believed to have taken in Red Bank, NJ in 1928 when owned by Harry Dobbins of Red Bank. Dobbins sold the then d) ROSALIE IV on 6 June 1929 to Henry E. Butler of Rumson Neck/Sea Bright, NJ not long before the Great Depression hit. Butler renamed her the JONBOB II, a) SEE W. SEE on 5 July 1929. Butler was the senior partner in Charles D. Barney & Co. which would later become Smith Barney & Co. It is said that he almost single handedly saved Smith Barney from going under during the Depression. The same might be said of saving the JONBOB II during those dark years. He owned her during most of the depression and sold her on 21 August 1935 to Robert Glendinning of Savannah, GA. The Jonbob II retained her name and left the New Jersey waters for Savannah, GA. Today she is known as the h) MAR-SUE, a) SEE W. SEE.
