Function

In this photo we see a dead log perform the function of habitat. On the top of this log mosses, fungi, and even saplings of other trees will absorb nutrients stored away in the log and use them to grow and then reproduce them selves. Underneath the log shelter is provided for various insects were they can rest and hide them selves from predators.

Additionally the log provides anthropogenic function. It's a nice place to sit and enjoy the view.
