JM-Verse: The Dark Knight #4: Polars
Damian: “Father? What are your thoughts?”
Bruce: “Rooting out the problem quickly. That could mean interrogating every problem who’s a potential assassin on the hunt for Jason...Oracle, I downloaded the recording for you.”
Oracle: “Positive. There were no interceptions in this. I will get the Birds of Prey to patrol if have to.”
Bruce: “Good. I have a lead after they just left the meeting. Call your dad to cleanup the mess here...”

The Batmobile speeds up again. I don’t know if I’m overthinking too much, but it is not certainly what I’d expect to be good when my former ward is at large. Among the protégés....why Jason? Was it because of him wrecking Sionis’ operations?
I’m intent on finding out more, but not for long if we talk to Gordon first at the GCPD
Gordon: “Y’know, I miss the old days where we and Harv had a trinity of an alliance...”
Bruce: “That’s long ago. The burden still exists, but now I wouldn’t be concerned about it.”
Gordon: “Brought the Boy Wonder this time eh?”
Bruce: “He’s my official partner now.”
Damian: “Wow. That’s rather new.”
Gordon: “Anyways, you got something for me don’t you? My boys are already looking at the socialite deaths. Black Mask, isn’t it?”
Bruce: “Oracle has conformation when I spied in on them.”
Gordon: “I’d assume Barbara told Montoya as well. If the Riddler pleaded for being reformed, that means he had big plans when he escaped Arkham.”
Bruce: “That’s why there’s a missing link in his alliance with Sionis.
Damian: “We think there’s so much criminals around, every one of them can be a potential suspect. Maybe even connections to Arkham itself.”
Gordon: “Arkham? I haven’t checked Blackgate yet. There’s been no breakout except for the Riddler. Nor the Joker has anything to do with this.”
Bruce: “He’s dead. Monarch Theatre. Harley, take her off the list. Scarecrow, he’s insane.”
Damian: “What about Maxie Zeus? Or the low tier villains like Crazy Quilt or Polka Dot Man?”
Bruce: “If they have a turf, they’re likely enforcers hired to work for Black Mask….”
Gordon: “hold on….I gotta take this phone call….yes Bullock….yes, I get you…alright, urgent right? I have available units as of now. Ace Chemicals? I’ll see if I can send a team there. But I gotta check out Crime Alley first—“
(Gordon turns his head around and sees the Dynamic Duo gone. He sighs and takes a cigarette.)
Gordon: “Just gotta be mysterious, don’t you both?”

Thanks to Bullock’s call, we would strike out as soon as possible. Ace Chemicals….the clues seem to be more vague. Experiences at these locations certainly have brought such an effect on me. First Crime Alley, then this. I wonder what’s it gonna be next.
We enter the building silently, as Oracle monitors us close through the Batcomputer. Like the building we had encountered, it seems like a potential meeting could occur here. Whether it’s the Scarecrow making fear toxins, or experiments conducted by mad scientists, it was always a shady place.
Damian flickers his light on again as we pass the bubbly boilers. The pathway leads to a certain point— I recognize the rail where the Joker fell into this vat of chemicals…
Voice: “Looking for something, Batman?”
Bruce: “I knew something was not right.”
Voice: “Yes indeed. And you have been very brave to stumble upon here.”
Bruce: “Victor.”
Freeze: “I could have transformed this place into something…icier. It would be nice to see this as a facility for my wife to recover.”
Bruce: “Among the many places, you choose here?”
Damian: “Were the others too hot for you, Freeze? Heat going up?”
Freeze: “If you say so. Black Mask has offered me such a sum of money to rehabilitate her condition…and you…are unwelcome here.”
The lights flicker on suddenly as gases spread all across the building. Damian, being enraged, pulls his sword out and tries to engage Freeze, who manages to take a few hits before the latter reaches for his gauntlet and sprays him with some gas in a transparent blue colour.
Bruce: “Robin! No!.”
Freeze: “Too late, Batman. You will enjoy seeing your partner going down….and you won’t last too long either. Run, run while you still can.”
Damian: “Father….help me….I can’t breathe….”
Bruce: “What have you done with him?”
Freeze: “Advanced form of fear toxin. Go figure.”
He proceeds to disappear in a gist of blue smoke, as everything around us starts to blow up, including the rail I’m standing on. I throw a remote control Batarang at the nearest window, as I grab my grappling gun when it returns to my pocket. I carry my son’s unconscious body as we escape the building that could engulf us in seconds.
Bruce: “Emergency! I need the Batwing now!”
The last thing I can remember is that I was calling Alfred for help.
